Childcare Sufficiency Assessment

The Childcare Act 2006 places a legal duty on us to ensure that there is sufficient childcare available in Sheffield to enable parents to work or undertake training to be in work.

The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA) is an assessment of existing childcare provision in the city, mapping supply of, demand for and gaps in the childcare market. We are required to produce an annual sufficiency report on the availability and sufficiency of childcare in Sheffield. This is available for you to download here.

Potential New Childcare Providers

The childcare market is constantly changing. The estimated shortages indicated in the most recent CSA may have changed by the time you read this assessment. If you plan to develop childcare please contact childcareplanning@sheffield.gov.uk to inform us of your intentions. This will enable us to keep abreast of the potential changes to the childcare market across the city.
